Overview
The Ala-Kol Lake Trek & Altyn-Arashan Tour is one of the most popular short trekking routes in Kyrgyzstan, combining a visit to the famous Ala-Kol Lake with a crossing of Ala-Kol Pass and a descent into the beautiful Altyn-Arashan Valley.
Starting from Karakol, this two-day trek takes you through forested valleys, alpine meadows, and high mountain landscapes in the Terskey Ala-Too Range.
This trek is ideal for active travelers who want to experience the best mountain scenery of Kyrgyzstan in a short time. The tour includes camping near Ala-Kol Lake and relaxing in the natural hot springs of Altyn-Arashan.

Karakol → Ala-Kol Lake
Drive from Karakol by 4x4 vehicle to Karakol Gorge (about 1.5 hours). Begin trekking through forested valleys and mountain landscapes toward Ala-Kol Lake. The trail gradually ascends along the river with scenic views of surrounding peaks.
A packed lunch will be served during the hike.
Upon arrival at Ala-Kol Lake, enjoy time to explore the shoreline and admire the turquoise waters surrounded by dramatic alpine mountains.
Dinner and overnight in tents near the lake.

Ala-Kol Lake → Ala-Kol Pass → Altyn-Arashan → Karakol
After breakfast at the campsite, hike up to Ala-Kol Pass (3,860 m) for panoramic mountain views.
From the pass, descend into Altyn-Arashan Valley along a scenic mountain trail.
Lunch will be served in Altyn-Arashan with time to relax in the natural hot springs.
Transfer back to Karakol by 4x4 vehicle.
Arrival in Karakol in the late afternoon.
